Timothy Selman is a professional organist, conductor and educator based in Lincoln.
Currently holding the role of Organ Scholar at Lincoln Cathedral, he has previously held organ scholarships at both Southwell and Nottingham Cathedrals, as well as the position of Assistant Director of Music at the York Oratory and the Parish Church of St Wulfram, in Grantham. As an active organ recitalist, Timothy enjoys presenting varied programmes in churches and cathedrals across the country, sharing both well-known and occasionally quirky repertoire. He has given recitals at the Cathedrals in Bradford, Lincoln, Newcastle, and Southwell, as well as other major churches across the U.K.
He is in demand as an accompanist, and was the accompanist for Southwell Choral Society during his time in Southwell. Beyond his work as an accompanist, Timothy is an active conductor and musical director. He directed the West Trent Churches Choir whilst at Southwell, a community ensemble performing across the Benefice of West Trent, and assists in managing Caelestis, a chamber choir founded in 2017 that sings services in cathedrals and major parish churches nationwide. Past engagements have included The Chapel Royal at Hampton Court Palace, Selby Abbey, and the cathedrals of Bradford, Canterbury, Durham, Sheffield, Southwell, Ripon, and York.
Timothy has also developed a career as a musical director and conductor in theatre, spanning both musical theatre and opera. His early love of Gilbert & Sullivan, developed during his time at the University of Nottingham, led him to York, where he further established himself as a Musical Director. His credits include Made in Dagenham, Kiss Me Kate, The Pirates of Penzance, and the amateur premiere of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole with Pick Me Up Theatre. He has also worked with York Opera, assisting on productions of The Gondoliers and Carmen. In November 2022, he was Musical Director for H.M.S. Pinafore at York Theatre Royal, leading a full orchestra.
Outside of music, Timothy enjoys spending time in the countryside and exploring historic cities.

Graham Newton
The Concerto in B-flat added a pleasing note of contrast with Tim Selman performing the solo [...] the bubbling virtuosity of Handel's writing allowed Mr Selman's skills to shine through. Ornamentation was always tight and neat and nothing went to waste.
